Now that you simply mention it, the first 2 tracks appear to absence reduced bass, (apart from a bass drum hit just before the fade away from Custard Pie). But then “In My Time of Dying” seems to have some extra bass… unsure what was taking place here, probably recorded in drips & drabs in various areas, though the mid-range is quite forward,
